It’s finally happening.
Marty’s Meats is officially breaking out of the industrial zone and rolling straight into the heart of Nelson CBD — and honestly, we’re buzzing. If all goes to plan, we’ll be opening our doors on Friday 5 December at 11:30am, with regular hours Tuesday to Sunday, 11:30am – 9pm.
No bookings.
No functions.
No VIPs.
Everyone is welcome, every single day.
This next chapter has been a long time in the making, and things are getting real real fast. Here’s where we’re at right now.
THE BUILD CONTINUES…
The crew is deep in Stage 3 — the point where the space finally starts looking like the Marty’s Meats people know and love.
The chiller is being finished
Power points are being finalised
Plumbing is being locked in
Walls are going up as the new layout takes shape
And the painters have officially started ‘making it Marty’s’
Every day the place gets a little louder, a little redder, a little more “yeah, this is gonna be iconic.”
OUR EPIC CHILLER!
We’ll be NZ’s only burger shop mincing its own meat inside a chiller — keeping it under 2°C the whole way through.
Yes, you’ll see staff in jackets and beanies prepping your patties.
It takes 4–5 days from muscle to smash-ready.
It’s intense, but it’s why our burgers hit the way they do.
DINING STYLE
Counter ordering.
Tin trays.
Recyclable packaging.
Eat, enjoy, recycle, head off happy.
Simple, clean, fast.
That is how we do it at Marty’s Meats Smash Burgers.
FRIES, SAUCES, DRINKS
Fries: Still hand-pressed, fermented, blanched, and fried in beef tallow — just at way bigger volumes.
Sauces: Once we settle, we’re bottling the holy trinity.
Drinks: Classic Coke lineup + local artisanal lemonade.
Alcohol: R18 combos coming (beer, cider, even rosé bubbles).
But licence delays mean no alcohol for the first few months.
Burgers first. Always.
